The Abundant Month
As we journey further into the expansive current of Sagittarius season, collective themes surrounding abundance, expansion, and the embodiment of possibility have been rising to the surface for me. This fiery period governed by Jupiter — celestial ruler of growth, fortune, and boundless horizons — often illuminates our relationship to abundance: how we pursue it, how we allow it, and how we consciously (or unconsciously) keep it at arm’s length.
Sagittarius energy naturally carries an archetype of wideness and prosperity, which is why those born under this sign are often perceived as “lucky” or guided by unseen currents of opportunity. (You can explore this more deeply in my previous piece, “Why Those Born Under Sagittarius Seem to Have Luck on Their Side”)
In the past week, I’ve found myself immersed in conversations around abundance more than ever — not simply abundance as a concept that comes in from time to time, but as a lived experience. And something about the tone of these discussions stirred an even deeper curiosity within me, compelling me to explore this terrain with greater reflection, contemplation and observation.
What Is Abundance Really?
I have been blessed with elements of abundancein this lifetime — though not always in the ways society typically defines it. Many forms of abundance are subtle, invisible to naive eyes, and easily taken for granted. I was raised in the UK, in a country that once offered political and economic stability — and I emphasise once, because I no longer see it this way today. And during my childhood, that specific stability meant I grew up without the fears of war, with a government safety net for those without work (especially parents), and access to free education until the age of eighteen.
Some may consider these simply as basic human rights, but if you have travelled, lived beyond the borders of your comfort zone, or witnessed the reality of other nations firsthand, you know that these so-called “basics” are in fact a profound privilege. The hand I was dealt at birth was not ordinary — I see it as very fortunate. It was abundant.
So what then, is the difference between luck and abundance?
This question has stirred in me for many years. Even during my postgraduate journalism studies in 2019, I found myself exploring the topic in an article on the science of luck — searching for what separates chance from intention.
Interestingly, this vibrant Sagittarius energyhas always seemed to weave its way into my life. I find myself frequently surrounded by Sagittarians, or perhaps unconsciously drawn to them. Maybe it’s because my fifth house — the realm of creativity, romance, joy, and childlike play — that sits in Sagittarius, a placement that aligns beautifully with its spirited nature. Or maybe it’s simply because I am fascinated, and occasionally infuriated, by the lightness with which Sagittarian's move through life: their optimism, their buoyancy, and their refusal to sink into heaviness.
In a world where I feel everything so deeply, (lets put that down to my Pisces moon and Venus in the 8th house), their carefree stance is both magnetic and mystifying — a mirror held up to something I wish I could feel, and yet in the ocean of complexities in this world, something that very much challenges me.
I’ve been trying to lean into this curiosity, and something about this week in particular has ignited a deeper spark — a blend of further intrigued, confusion and fascination. It isn’t just Sagittarians specifically, but rather those people for whom life appears to effortlessly fall into place that captivate me — and, if we’re honest here, also captivate most of the world. As social media for one, emphasises and elevates to this energy to celebrity status.
It makes me wonder:
Why doesn’t life unfold smoothly for all of us?
What are these individuals doing differently?
And most importantly:
Are we all inherently abundant at our core or is it just for a selected group of the population?
Are We All Abundant?
According to several people I’ve spoken with recently, the answer is a confident YES— we are all abundant by nature.
But I’m not entirely convinced.
(My Aries Sun and Mercury in the 9th house are in full throttle to navigate the truth beyond reason here!)
Still, I’m open. And, I’m insanely curious.
So let’s approach this first through an astrological lens:
When I look at someone’s natal chart, there are a few areas I immediately pay attention to that can distinguish what mega advantages the person can arrive with in this lifetime. In a simplified sense, some of these might include:
· 12° Degree Placements— often associated with significant wealth
·5° Degree Placements— attractiveness and magnetism
· Jupiter in the 2nd house— natural ease with money, confidence in talents, and financial good fortune
· Jupiter in the 10th house— a prosperous public life and career success
· Jupiter in the 7th house— supportive contractional partnerships (emotionally, physically, or financially )
·A harmonious relationship between the Sun and Jupiter— amplified success, visibility, and support
· Balanced elemental distribution — a stable internal foundation
Does the absence of these placements mean that the person will have a troubled life? Of course not. It simply means that certain people enter life with more advantages than others — where doors open with more ease, where growth unfolds with minimal resistance or effort.
But why is this the reality? It just doesn’t seem fair. And my fairness seeking Aries placements are firing up something chronic with the injustice of it all.
Do We Become What We Know?
The way I understand it is that we are all energetic beings on individual journeys, and when we incarnate into the physical world, we come here to move through specific experiences that contribute to our evolution. Whether that’s true or not, I don’t know — none of us truly do, do we?— but this perspective helps soften the edges of what can otherwise feel like a profoundly unjust setup.
The second thing I want to address — because we cannot dismiss it, deny it, or pretend it isn’t happening — is the state of the world around us. There are wars. There are children dying. There are people living without access to food or clean water. And yet, amidst this, people - namely I would say the Gen Z generation, are promoting aesthetically perfect lifestyles and concepts online, preaching that anyone can manifest their dream life if they simply “think positive,” “have the right mindset,” or “trust the universe.”
But the truth is, for many people on this planet, their only prayer right now is clean water, a safe place to sleep, or a meal for their family. How can we possibly tell these people to “just raise your vibration, journal your thoughts, meditate, set intentions, and everything will align?”
The missing link, and the point that I feel is being overlooked here by most, is this:
You cannot think or manifest your way into abundance when your nervous system is in survival mode.
What Is Helpful?
Yes, we can all grow internally. We can all expand, heal, and evolve. Which is Jupiter in the human form by the way. But that process only becomes possible once our basic human need for safety is truly met. Without safety, the nervous system does not have the capacity to DREAM; it only has the capacity to SURVIVE.
And safety looks and feels different for each person. For some, safety might mean:
· Access to clean water
· Consistent access to food
· Living in a peaceful environment
· Having loving and supportive parents
· A partner who is present and reliable
· A safe home to live in
· Friends we can trust
· A stable income, or access to financial support
These foundations don’t just create a sense of “I am worthy.”
They also communicate something deeper:
“I am welcome here” “I belong here” AND “My life matters”
Only when we feel safe can we relax into our subconscious programming and open our minds to bigger visions, purposes, and possibilities. Activating HOPE.
Without these foundations and without more than just one of the above, all we are capable of is survival thinking, not expansive creation.
This brings me back to astrology— because understanding our charts helps us recognise that every single person has a different sense of home and safety within them. And it’s important that we learn to build that home inside ourselves first, before we dive into any kind of abundance work.
But where does LUCK come into this?
I’m not a scientist, but from what I’ve observed, luck — or what looks like luck — is often simply a case of right place, right time, combined with the inner work that was already done beforehand, preparing someone to receive what arrives.
For example:
If someone believes deep down that they don’t matter, and an opportunity comes along — say, to speak publicly about their work — there’s a high chance they’ll probably sabotage it and say no. Not because they’re incapable, but because they don’t feel worthy, ready or that they matter enough to do that.
And when I look at my Sagittarius friends, or people with strong Sagittarian traits — optimistic, self-trusting, light hearted energy — they all seem to share one thing in common: They have an unshakeable belief that things will always work out.
It’s unwavering. And honestly, sometimes it’s highly annoying. But then again — if your life experience is mostly sunshine and roses, you naturally expect more sunshine and roses right? You look for it everywhere because thats all you know. And what we know, becomes familiar…. and what is familiar, becomes part of US. Just like habits.
So, are we all abundant?
I still wavering between yes and noon this one. But one thing I am certain of, and of course it comes from an astrological point of view alongside a few decades of human observation, is that we all have the ability to experience abundance, luck, joy, expansion. Yet, even if we have a natal chart that is supportive, this space can only be accessed when our nervous system isn’t locked in survival mode. This is because nothing can be received when the body and mind are too full of the basic needs … there is no room for anything else to come in!
On a vibrational level, when the voltage is too high the electricity cuts out and short circuits… which is exactly what happens to your dreams when survival mode is in the driving seat.
If you’re living in survival mode, for whatever reason, it can be almost impossible to access that part of yourself. It’s there — just buried, fragile, and not safe enough to surface.
My advice?
So wherever you are on your life journey today, start there.
Build safety first, where you can.
Create habits that support your nervous system.
Practice gratitude for the good that already exists.
Strengthen your self-worth. Do you value yourself without your accolades?
Learn about your astrology chart blessings, use this energy to your advantage.
Take consistent, human steps towards what you want.
Abundance isn’t magic — it’s a built alignment system.
And with safe foundations, I feel it can be welcomed by the majority.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
