Derived from ancient roots, but in fact brought into the public eye and trademarked by astrologer Jim Lewis in the 1970s; Astro Cartography is basically geographical astrology. It’s the mapping of your planets from your birth chart onto the world map. Also known as planetary mapping.
Want to know where in the world you most likely to find compatible love? Where is best for a relaxing holiday? Where you are most likely to accumulate the most wealth?
Yep, I can see that in your Astro Cartography chart.
But How?
So let's start with the basics. To begin with I need to read your birth chart. For this I would need your full name, where you were born, place of birth and the exact time to the minute you were born. Some people have trouble trying to find this and so I advise looking on birth certificates, in baby books or even going back to the hospital that you were born to see if that's possible. Sometimes you can call the hospital and get the information through the archives.
So why is it so important that I get the exact time of birth? Well each minute is connected to a star sign, so if you get it wrong by a minute, we could be very inaccurate in our reading. For instance, there is a lot of difference between the way a Cancer (the crab) moves, to the way an Aries (the ram) moves; even if we are just talking animals and crustaceans here!

The Approach
I use the Hellenistic approach to astrology, but there are also Vedic charts which are the Indian philosophical astrology charts interlinked with the Hindi religion. People normally say these are the first ever astrology charts that were around, whereas the Hellenistic charts are derived from Greek, Egyptian/Middle Eastern origin and known as the more "modern chart".
From my perspective, I would say that they are the more evolved charts for our modern-day societal ways.
The Birth Chart
Once I receive your exact birth details, I place them into a digital calculator and voila, I see your beautiful chart. From here I take approx 5 days to read and analyse the chart, also dreaming on the chart to get further insights intuitively. I send a PDF hand out with the full analysis once complete.
(Sometimes it can be up to 15 pages long!).
The chart consists of 12 houses and numerous planets and asteroids.
Here is an example of a chart. The framework will look the same but the placement of the houses, planets, degrees and aspects will look different for everyone. Because we are all individual!
(Please note, I do not draw my charts by hand)

Mapping
From here, I use another digital calculator to view the placements of the planets on the world map when you were born.

Analysis
Each line represents a planet and because there are four lines to each planet here, it’s really important to note that each line highlights a different part of your life.
To put it simply:
MC lines – A focus on career
AC lines – A focus on identity and ego
DC lines – A focus on others
IC lines – A focus on the home and family
But of course it’s not that simple, we need to see which planets are in what houses, at what degree and what aspects are opposing or helping them out.

How I have used Astro Cartography in my life
Before I even knew anything about Astro cartography I intuitively knew and was aware of the energies of different places in the world. It was really interesting to see how different places affected and influenced me.
So you may or may not know that I lived in Dubai for approximately 8 to 9 years, and I decided to go there kind of on a whim; something was gravitationally pulling me towards this place and away from the UK, even though I've never been there before and I had no connections there. Crazy? Maybe. Intuitive… well I do have my Venus and Moon in Pisces; one of the most tuned in star signs to energies, alongside other fellow water signs Cancer and Scorpio.
During my 8 to 9 years in the Middle East I felt like everything that I put my hand and dedication to paid off. Yes, there were challenges, heavy ones in fact - which is definitely a reflection of my Neptune line (the planet of illusions and addictions) being nearby. But my Sun and my Jupiter MC lines were near to Dubai and this is so supporting when you want to shine bright and want to bring abundance into your life - within your career. And maybe bring a little bit of luck as well.
However, like I said, there are so many particulars that make a place affluent or opposing for you. So it's not just as simple as looking at your Jupiter line or looking at your Sun line for luck and abundance, it's really about taking the time to analyse it against your birth chart, the house that it's in and the degree that it's at. Most importantly, what planets it is next to on the world map.
In comparison, I have always found the UK a very challenging place for me. I always felt misunderstood and I found there were always obstacles in my way when moving forward. When looking at my Astro Cartography I realised that my Pluto line – the line of rebirth, death and transformation was there. It’s a hard line and one of the most challenging in astrology, mainly because it’s not one way or the other, plus it focuses on clearing. Bu, although it was a very heavy placement for me to grow up under, it taught me a lot more than my Sun and Jupiter lines would have done, and so I would say it was a favourable place to start my life's journey.
Just imagine you start your life's journey all sunshine and roses, no obstacles, no problems, life is a breeze… your not really going to learn where your strengths lie, how to handle problems when they arise, or have the courage to carry yourself in darker times. So, growing up with my Pluto line was a blessing for me, and a chance to work on reframing, redirecting, retrying and adapting. I skill I would say is now one of my greatest assets.
That being said, I want to make it clear that you can’t just go to a place and receive love, luck, money etc without doing the work. Astrology supports you on your life’s journey, helping you to see and overcome your obstacles and challenges, in the hope that you meet your highest timeline – your North Node.
So my advice to you is to firstly put in the efforts, be aware of what needs adjusting, be a good human and then check your Astro Cartography alongside your birth chart.
Then you can place yourself in a part of the world that you feel you need the most understanding or support with. That could be for your hopes and dreams, to amplify your abundance, to heal wounds, to uncover any illusions that are in your way, or to help you to grow as a person for the better. Your choice!
